hiThis will be my 3rd year in a row leading a very big food drive in the Hamilton Mill area as a leader for Compassion in Action weekend – in cooperation with 12Stone Church. It’s a really cool opportunity for all of us to give SO MUCH back to our community with just a few short hours of effort.
Last year we collected an amazing amount of food and delivered it to the Lawrenceville Co-op.
Hard to believe but there are families right here in Gwinnett that have a huge need (now as always)
This is certainly something that parents and kids can both be part of.
Now’s the time to sign up (takes 2 seconds)
The first step is having each person (parents and kids) sign up here:
Everyone gets a CIA t-shirt but they have to sign up really soon (like this week).
After you to the site, there’s a list of different activities.
The Hamilton Mill food drive is the very first choice (and the best one
btw, if you can’t be there on Oct 3rd, we also need lots of help with flyer distribution during the week before.
Also, if you can only help for an hour or two on Saturday, that’s fine too. Just come when you can!

Sunday thru Thursday: 10am to 8pm / Friday & Saturday: 10am to 9pm
(Gwinnett County Schools are in session thru May 21)

hiYou’ve probably heard the buzz about the great new movie theater coming to Hamilton Mill this summer. In fact, everyone is realizing now that it will be “THE” place to be at Hamilton Mill this summer & all the hot summer movies will be playing on the big screen right there. It’s opening right by Kohl’s and the Hamilton Mill Home Depot — across Hwy 124 from Starbucks & the BB&T bank.

Hamilton Mill – Have You Been To Helen GA. Lately?
Related Posts: Fun Stuff For Kids, Parks & Sports, Restaurants & Entertainment
hiHey Hamilton Mill, have you been to Helen Ga. lately? This past weekend my wife Carmen and I decided to take our kids, Logan, Madeline and McClain along with one of our three dogs “Stitch” with us on a drive to find something fun to do. We really did not have a destination in mind when we got into the car but we knew we were going to find a place to go hiking.
Once we were in the car we decided to start heading towards the North Georgia mountains. We had not been up in the Helen area in years and we made the choice to head that way and see what we find. After an hour in the car we pulled into Helen and decided to make a pit stop. Helen is tucked in the Blue Ridge mountains on the Chattahoochee River. This quaint little town is fashioned after a alpine village and boasts over 200 stores and restaurants. The village has cobblestone alley ways, old world type “Castles” as my kids called them and lots of interesting shops and restaurants to visit.
Helen has a interesting history which is linked to the Cherokee Indians and has Indian burial grounds and loads of history for all ages. In the early 20th century the early settlers mined for gold and cut timber to make their living.
During the summer, Helen is a bustling town that tourists can participate in numerous outdoor activities such as tubing on the river, golf, horse back riding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and more.
After lunch at a local restaurant (we talked the kids of of Wendy’s) we loaded back up in the car and headed to Unicoi State Park for a hike. We ended up on a 2.6 mile trail that wound through the woods and was a nice short hike for the family. Stitch the dog, was in his element and at one point got so excited that he dragged one of our kids down a small slope on her belly. Overall we had a great day trip to the mountains and would encourage anyone looking for a good day trip give the Helen area a try.
