It’s time again for the Hamilton Mill food drive in cooperation with 12 Stone Church and Compassion in Action (CIA). The 4th annual event is being held on Saturday October 2nd (2010).

Compassion in Action weekend brings thousands of volunteers together from dozens of local churches, including 1500 or more from the 12 Stoner crowd too.

As always, our project (one of many) is a huge food drive within the Hamilton Mill community. It couldn’t be a better time for it either because the Lawrenceville coop is really struggling to keep up with demand from so many Gwinnett families in need these days.

Please mark your calendar for Saturday October 2nd and get together a big bag (or two) of good food for those in need. You can let us know that you’ll have food ready for us by sending email to

The New Words in The Dictionary

Got this list from Time Magazine (really via @twitter ). As always, some interesting stuff on this list. Lately, so much of these lists are driven by the web. Amazing that the course of our entire vocabulary is mostly driven by our online interactions. The term “Social Media” has become so ubiquitous in my world that I really don’t want to hear it anymore. Anybody with me? It’s like that song on the radio that’s just been played to death! But, I digress…

I’d like to suggest a few additions of my own, such as Escape Velocity and Man-Friend (a term my daughter uses to describe friends of mine that are the other fathers of her softball teammates)

Hamilton Mill Golf Tournament / October 21, 2010

The ‘96 Worth Cobras Softball Team is seeking the National ASA Championship during their second season at the Girls 14u level and the upcoming 2010/2011 season.

The team is hosting a full-field open golf tournament to raise money for their upcoming bid for the national title!!

12 Stone Church Saturday Campus is Coming September 18th

If you’ve been planning to visit 12 Stone Church but had trouble finding the right schedule for you, something cool is coming. Starting September 18, 2010, there will be two Saturday night services at the Hwy 20 campus – 5pm and 645pm.

They are calling it “Saturday Campus” because it’s really a completely seperate team from the Sunday. Saturday will have it’s own awesome worship team and campus pastor plus a totally unique set of volunteers to run the childrens ministry, usher team, etc. It takes a small village to make it happen when the Church seats 2500 people!

We’ve had one of the hottest summers on record this year. And, for the first week of Gwinnett Schools, we’re hitting 95 degrees almost everyday! Bad news? Maybe. But, lets not forget that we have generally mild winters here in Metro Atlanta and amazing weather spring and fall (come on fall!!).

Of course, you can cool off at the Hamilton Mill pools or the lakes.

Mill Creek Schools Are Back in Session!

Yesterday was the first day back to school for the Mill Creek Cluster and all of Gwinnett County Schools. Did your kids survive?

Some years seem more significant than others. Of course, the first day of kindergarden or 1st grade are huge. The start of middle school (6th grade here) is also a big milestone. My son, Nick, is in 7th grade at Frank Osborne Middle School. No special turning point for him this year.

It was the first day of high school for my daughter, McKenzie. She’s playing softball at Mill Creek High and we’re so very proud of her. So, now we’re getting up at 530am!! Awesome

We’ve got amazing schools here. Just thought I’d share.
