Food Drive at Hamilton Mill / Compassion in Action Weekend

hiThis will be my 3rd year in a row leading a very big food drive in the Hamilton Mill area as a leader for Compassion in Action weekend – in cooperation with 12Stone Church. It’s a really cool opportunity for all of us to give SO MUCH back to our community with just a few short hours of effort.
Last year we collected an amazing amount of food and delivered it to the Lawrenceville Co-op.
Hard to believe but there are families right here in Gwinnett that have a huge need (now as always)
This is certainly something that parents and kids can both be part of.
Now’s the time to sign up (takes 2 seconds)
The first step is having each person (parents and kids) sign up here:
Everyone gets a CIA t-shirt but they have to sign up really soon (like this week).
After you to the site, there’s a list of different activities.
The Hamilton Mill food drive is the very first choice (and the best one
btw, if you can’t be there on Oct 3rd, we also need lots of help with flyer distribution during the week before.
Also, if you can only help for an hour or two on Saturday, that’s fine too. Just come when you can!
Regards,
Matt Fagioli

ps. please feel free to call me with any questions or ideas

hiIf you live near Hamilton Mill, you’ve probably been waiting for the new park to open on Hwy 124. The new Duncan Creek Park located on Braselton Highway at Pine Road opens today! This park is minutes away from everyone in Hamilton Mill.
The official grand opening for the park is scheduled for June 14th, but county officials decided to open to the public today since school is out and there will be plenty of kids looking for new activities.
Duncan Creek park features 110 acres and includes a skate park for bicyclists, skateboarders, and rollerbladers. It also contains a football field, sand volleyball courts, and a playground. Also, the new Hamilton Mill library branch will be added at the park’s entrance later this year.

hi
Well, I got my pool badge in the mail today! I guess summer is almost here!
Believe it or not, this weekend the Hamilton Mill pools are open. Both pools are on an abbreviated schedule thru May 21st (that’s when Gwinnett County schools get out) After that, the schedule is, of course, much longer — for the long days of summer. Then, this fall, the schedule is short again — after August 10th. Here’s the schedule thru May 21st:
Lakeview Pool at Hamilton Mill schedule for May 10 to May 21
Sunday thru Thursday: 10am to 8pm / Friday & Saturday: 10am to 9pm
(Gwinnett County Schools are in session thru May 21)
Millview Pool at Hamilton Mill schedule for May 10 to May 21
Friday: 4pm to 9pm / Saturday: 10am to 9pm / Sunday: 10am to 8pm
(Lakeview is only open on Weekends thru May 21)

hiYou’ve probably heard the buzz about the great new movie theater coming to Hamilton Mill this summer. In fact, everyone is realizing now that it will be “THE” place to be at Hamilton Mill this summer & all the hot summer movies will be playing on the big screen right there. It’s opening right by Kohl’s and the Hamilton Mill Home Depot — across Hwy 124 from Starbucks & the BB&T bank.
There really has not been much talk about the details. We pride ourselves on knowing everything about what is going on with Hamilton Mill real estate — even commercial real estate like this movie theater. But, up until know, there really wasn’t much to know.
Great Escapes contacted Diamond Dwellings today and gave us some more details. The theater is tentatively scheduled to open in late June. It is called “The Great Escape 14 in Dacula”. The facility is 52,000 square feet with stadium high-back 24″ riser rocker reclining seats! It will have Full Impact DTS Digital Surround Sound. Plus, it also boasts a first-of-its-kind Digital Auditorium and 3D projection system too.
The first six months will include many huge movie attractions such as Iron-Man, (Disney’s Hot Blockbuster) Narnia II, Deception, Incredible Hulk, Untraceable, Batman, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Beverly Hills Cop 4 plus many many more Top Blockbusters–ensuring maximum movie attendance and interest in this fabulous mega theatre!

Hamilton Mill – Batter Up! – Gwinnett Braves Baseball Coming Soon!

hiTake me out to the ballgame, take me out to the crowd….. Hey Hamilton Mill, have you heard the news? The Atlanta Braves just recently announced that the current Triple A, Richmond Braves would be relocating to Gwinnett County!
The addition of the new Gwinnett Braves to the area will be another huge boost to our local community and will add just another family fun entertainment site. No wonder this is such a fantastic place to live.
I can’t wait for the start of the 2009 minor league season. It will be so great to attend games (even at the last minute) without having to drive to Atlanta to see some baseball — plus I love the minor league game. The kids play hard with hopes of making it to the “show” and there is nothing like a minor league baseball atmosphere. The kids LOVE to go see the Braves play and this will allow us to get to many more games than we usually do.
I remember in college, my friends and I would load up and head out to watch the Kinston Indians play. They were (still are) a single A minor league team located in Kinston, NC at Grainger Stadium. My school, East Carolina University was a short 30+ minute drive and we always had a blast. I have been to numerous minor league baseball games and I enjoy them more than the watching the Major League games.
The new stadium is expected to be built near the Mall of Georgia. The initial concept of the stadium and surrounding area will encompass the ballpark, retail, restaurants and hopefully some residential townhomes/condos.
As of now, there are currently over 750 applications for season tickets (I am awaiting approval from the wife for mine). At $100 the deposit is very affordable.
If you are interested in more information and the latest news on our newest “Home Town Team” or for ticket information visit HamiltonMillDwellings.com and DiamondDwellings.com

Get Help Landing Athletic Scholarships for Your Hamilton Mill Student/Athlete!

hiDo you have a student athlete at Mill Creek High (or other high schools in the Hamilton Mill area)?
Are you hoping for, or counting on, athletic scholarships to fund their education? Did you know that only 1% of high school athletes are being recruited aggressively by College Coaches? The other 99% must market themselves. Exposure tournaments, matches, showcases, high school coaches and other connections may help, but to significantly increase the chances of getting recruited, you must put their information in front of College Coaches (and LOTS of them). Do not wait for the coaches to find your student. You must contact the coaches and let them know you are interested in their college and athletic programs. You must start early – only 25% of D1 and D2 coaches are tracking athletes when they are juniors. Over 75% start tracking athletes when they are freshman and sophomores!
Stu Ullrich, Dacula resident and parent of two successful Mill Creek High School student athletes, can help! Ullrich and the Student Athlete ConneXion help you take control. They assist you with their vast experience, but more importantly, they provide the following:
1) Profile Website showcasing your student’s athletic and academic accomplishments
2) an Email System designed to market your student athlete directly to a database of over 23,000 coaches representing 17,000 teams and over 2000 colleges and universities throughout the United States
3) Personal Recruiting Consulting to help your student stay on track.
