Food Drive at Hamilton Mill / Compassion in Action Weekend

Sep 13th 2009
hi

This will be my 3rd year in a row leading a very big food drive in the Hamilton Mill area as a leader for Compassion in Action weekend – in cooperation with 12Stone Church.   It’s a really cool opportunity for all of us to give SO MUCH back to our community with just a few short hours of effort.

Last year we collected an amazing amount of food and delivered it to the Lawrenceville Co-op.
Hard to believe but there are families right here in Gwinnett that have a huge need (now as always)

This is certainly something that parents and kids can both be part of.

Now’s the time to sign up (takes 2 seconds)

The first step is having each person (parents and kids) sign up here:

Everyone gets a CIA t-shirt but they have to sign up really soon (like this week).

After you to the site, there’s a list of different activities.
The Hamilton Mill food drive is the very first choice (and the best one :)

btw, if you can’t be there on Oct 3rd, we also need lots of help with flyer distribution during the week before.
Also, if you can only help for an hour or two on Saturday, that’s fine too. Just come when you can!

Regards,

ps. please feel free to call me with any questions or ideas

Bring Your Notepad to the Gwinnett Town Hall, Feb 17th at Hamilton Mill Golf Club

Jan 28th 2009
hi

For the last several years, I’ve been producing a year end report about the real estate market in Hamilton Mill.  I started this in 2005 while I was an agent at Keller Williams Realty. Since Diamond Dwellings opened it’s doors in late 2006, we’ve worked as a team to analyze the larger Gwinnett County real estate market and provide great information to our friends and neighbors who own property here.

I also worked together with my business partner, Matt Hermes to plan the annual Real Estate Town Hall meetings so we’d all have a place to get together, talk through the numbers and try to make sense of the current market “situation”.

This Year’s 1st Gwinnett Town Hall is on February 17, 2009 at Hamilton Mill Golf Club.

Hope you can join us for a powerful discussion – not only about local real estate – but also about the larger economic environment that surrounds & of course deeply effects the real estate market.

We’ll start our evening at 6pm with light appetizers, soft drinks & a cash bar.

At approximately 645pm, the real estate presentation will begin.  You can expect to receive great information about the 2008 real estate sales results as well as our 2009 outlook & analysis.

We’ve also invited an amazing group of local market experts & leaders to share in our “town hall” format.  I can’t wait to hear what they have to say about today’s market!

We’re working hard to bring you the very latest information.  Bring your notepad!

If you plan to come, please let us know by signing up here (it’s free!)

See you there!

What if a Nuclear Weapon hit Hamilton Mill?

Dec 23rd 2008
hi

OK, this is a little weird and it’s not very Christmasie. But, I saw it on wired.com and I just had to share it. Some designer in Australia came up with this google maps mashup that shows you the thermal radiation impact of a nuclear weapon impact at whatever address you enter.

So, I couldn’t help it. I entered the office address for Diamond Dwellings here at Hamilton Mill and here’s the map I got. Looks like all the mall of georgia shoppers would not be happy!

A bit twisted? Sorry about that.

Merry Christmas!

Gwinnett Braves Baseball Is Here!!!

Dec 11th 2008
hi

As many of you know the Gwinnett Braves will kick off their inaugural season in Georgia in April of 2009 and I cannot wait til opening day.

As a high school student in Chesapeake Va. I used to go see the Tidewater Tides who used to be the NY Mets Triple A team play and while in college at East Carolina University we used to travel to Kinston NC to watch the Kinston Indians play single A ball.  Minor league baseball is an awesome experience and one I cannot wait to share with my three kids.

The crowds will be manageable, the parking should not be a problem getting in or out of the stadium, the food and beer should be relatively inexpensive, the drive to downtown Atlanta is eliminated and the atmosphere will be awesome. These kids who we will get to watch are fighting for their careers and will be working hard to make it to the pinnacle of the sport, the major leagues.

This past Saturday night I was fortunate enough to have dinner and spend time with Bill Blackwell, the Assistant General of Operations for the Gwinnett Braves who recently moved into Hamilton Mill. Bill has been in baseball for 32 years and recently moved to the Atlanta area after the Richmond Braves relocated to Gwinnett County.  In my discussions with Bill it was obvious of his love and passion for the game of baseball and his overall knowledge of what it takes to make the day to day operations of the team run smoothly.

I was extremely impressed with all of the behind the scenes work that is done to get a baseball team from one city to another as well as serving as good hosts to visiting teams that will be coming to visit Gwinnett County along with ALL the other duties of his job. Bill and I talked about the day to day aspects of his job and the extremely long hours he puts in expecially during the season.

As the stadium continues to take shape and the coming of minor league baseball approaches we all should be excited about the upcoming boost to the local economy and embrace the opportunity in front of us. Get out there and purchase season tickets or single game tickets. There is no better place to be than sitting in a ballpark on a hot summer afternoon watching America’s pastime.

I cannot wait. See you at the ballpark.

hi

Going to the movies this weekend? Here’s a link to the Hamilton Mill Movies

It’s so great to have our own movie theater right down the street (behind Home Depot). So, you can grab some coffee at the Hamilton Mill Starbucks and cruise right across the street and be at the best theater in the area.

What an awesome weekend for the movies!

Gwinnett Early Voting is Going on Now!

Oct 23rd 2008
hi

Just an update to the post here from Matt Hermes.  Matt’s post indicated that the early voting would happen starting on the 27th.  But, there is advanced voting going on right now!  We’re still trying to nail down all the details so that we can share them here too!

I think the confusion arose because next week there will be expanded locations for the “advanced voting” but this week you can already vote in Grayson at:

455 GRAYSON HWY, STE 200, LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. VOTING HOURS ARE 9A.M. TO 4:30 P.M.

So far, this Gwinnett County site seems to be the best info.
